I can’t be more excited to be a in a show alongside so many amazing women artists!! This means a lot to me! I have grown up being an excellent amateur Go player, in yet another small world dominated by males and I was like this tiny, quiet, timid looking girl slaughtering boys and girls (most female players are no match to me after a few years into playing) on the Go board. In a world where people tend to make assumptions about you because of your appearance or background, nothing would make you feel better to be able to quash all of that!
Also raised to be someone who is not afraid to be themselves (although that was lost for years at one point), I am proud to part of this show because the Society of Women Artists was established at a time when we were largely not considered by society and art professionals as serious artists, and was to promote talents that should not be overlooked because they are female. So let’s celebrate! Let’s go sisters!
